Does anyone know what to do for hypnopompic sleep paralysis? are there any meds !

Question:

Does anyone know what to do for hypnopompic sleep paralysis? are there any meds i can take?

every once in awhile right before i fall into a deep sleep i will wake up and not be able to move and i'll hear a loud ringing in my ears and the feeling that theres 300 lbs on my chest. I also have the feeling that there is something/someone in the room that is evil or trying to hurt me. i talked to my doctor before and he didn't really have anything to say about it, i was wondering if i should go to a sleep specialist, and if there is a certain type of medication that can help with this? thank you.

Answers:

You should see psychiatrist and sleep specialist. You may be suffering from sleep apnea or narcolepsy. Sleep studies and other investigation may help.
Amphetamines like stimulants are often prescribed. Some people report improvement with high caffeine intake.
