Staph infection question?

my husband and i have staph infection. mine rarely acts up= but he is always getting boils from it. what can i do or what medicine can i ask my dr about? he just keeps giving my hubby bactrum- which makes it go away- but not keep it at bay.

no neither one of us in a hospital enviroment- he is a driller on a oilrig and i dont work

Ask the doctor about vancomycin, gentamycin, oxyamycin, or erythromycin. If he's been using the same antibiotic for a while, his particular strain may have become resistant.

MRSA is methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus. His resistance to his current antibiotic doesn't necessarily mean it is resistant to all penicillinase antibiotics, which would be MRSA. Unless he's been diagnosed with this type of S. aureus, these antibiotics I mentioned earlier should work. Although, vancomycin is also used for MRSA.
