Shingles = pain?!

Question:

Shingles = pain?

So I have a rash on my collar bone, and its shingles. I already went to the doctors, got medicine, etc etc. BUT I am still in an unbearable amount of pain. It's so hard not to itch, I think it makes it hurt more. But I was wondering, because my doctor didn't exactly TALK about shingles, he just prescribed me meds. How long does it last and is it supposed to burn really bad?? Also, I know it appears as a surface infection but I read somewhere that it can get into your nerves... if so.. does it always happen? Cause I'm pretty damn scared and in pain right now!! Any information you know will help, thank you.

Answers:

Yes, it is very painful...

My mom just got this shingles early this year and she claimed very very painful, almost unbearable and she couldn't sleep well.

The doctor give her medicine to eat and to apply, so every now and then when she itch, we will apply the medicine on the infection areas.

However, after finishing eating the medicine, though the shingle some how getting cured, the pain still on and off attack her and it lasted for almost 5 months. Until now, she will still sometime felt a bit of numbness.

Now she is taking supplements. Basically vitamin B complex and C is good for that. You may check out on Shingles on the internet, lots of information.

I have another 2 friends also got the infections, one healed quite fast, about 3 weeks. But the other one is an old man, took him 6 months to cure and the pain lasted almost a year.

I hope yours will heal faster as you are still young, should not worry too much, it will eventually go away...

Take Care.
