Its because the common cold is caused by a virus!. A virus is not like bacteria!. For one, bacteria is a living organism and can be killed!. A virus is not living so it cant be killed!. Thats why its so bad to get viruses!. Especially STDs like aids!. A person with aids will have the HIV virus for their entire life because a virus can't be killed!.
Vaccines are used to help your body build an immunity to a virus!. Basically what its doing is giving your body a very small dose of very a weak virus!. This way the body can destroy the virus and will always remember how to destroy a specific virus!.
Because there are a lot of different types of colds, there is no possible way to vaccinate each and every kind!. So we still have the cold without a cure!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

AW has it right!. there are many many viruses that cause the common cold, its not just one!. in fact, once you get one cold, you won't probably get it again, because you have built immunity to it!. You get infected with another virus that causes a slightly different cold!.
We have vaccines against many viral diseases, such as measles and chicken pox, but with cold we are not talking about one disease causing agent but rather many different kinds and its just not feasible to create a vaccine against all these different types!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Much like the other users said, viruses are non living, therefor cannot be killed (YEAH LYSOL WHAT NOW!?!)!. Viruses are not like bacteria, where they are constant every year, this is why your flu shot needs to be taken annually!. The virus mutates itself so often, that once there is a cure for the present cold, it has already erupted into a whole other virus!.
The best thing to do is just to keep your immune system up with Vitamin C and lots of fluids!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Maybe because we'd lose out on all the things they sell to treat the symptoms like sore thought medicine, cough medicine, stuffed nose medicine, runny nose medicine!. And they sell them year round ever year like you dont always get the flu every year but you almost always get a cold!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

When there is change in weather, anticipate mild cold,caugh,induced by water borne infections!.We should boil and cool water, adding sufficient TULASi leaves!.!.
If it rains, carry a towel, if you dont have an umbrella!.

Because it's a constantly mutating virus that would be very hard to cure and more importantly, it isn't life threatening, so it's a waste of time!. We have more important things to cure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
