Herpes question?!

Question:

Herpes question?

theres a possibility that my boyfriend might have herpes, its unlikely but its still possible. he's getting it checked out this week but i was still wondering about a few things.

so i know herpes is spread through direct skin to skin contact. but i was wondering if it is also spread through body fluids? because we always use a condom but its broken a few times, so there wasn't any skin contact but there was obviously fluid contact.

also, i've never gotten a cold sore and neither has my mom. i know that i've been exposed to the virus because i've shared drinks with people and have kissed people. i think i have some sort of resistence against the virus that perhaps is genetic. would this resistence also apply to genital herpes?

and if you have skin to skin contact with someone who has herpes but shows no symptoms, what are the chances of it being spread?

Answers:

Olivia,
Yes herpes does spread through skin to skin contact. There is possibilities that even when a condom is used you can still spread it because it also affects your area around the penis or vagina, a males scrotum, your anus, and the thigh area. A person can also be contagious and not show signs of an out break.
You can also have the virus pass it on to others and not break out for years. Making it hard to diagnose. Yes there is a blood test which is the most accurate test you can get to diagnose the type of herpes virus you have HSV1 or HSV2. Below are some links i think you might find helpful. Hope this helped you out. Good luck and you should get tested just to be safe.
