Can persistant noise damage ears?!

Question:

Can persistant noise damage ears?

Can persistent noise such as sleeping next to a computer (fan) or being on an airplane for 12 hours damage ones hearing?

The noise isn't necessarily loud or overwhelming, just persistant.

I have tinitus and was just wondering : ) thanks

Answers:

Yes, constant noises can damage your hearing, iPods, airplane ground crews, industrial employees, rock concerts, all contribute. The tinnitus may diminish over time, but I don't think a computer fan will harm you.
