Answers:

Symptoms of a heart attack vary from person to person. These include heaviness/tightness in the upper chest. This can radiate down the left or right arm or both, up the neck into the jaw and round to the back. Associated symptoms can be perfuse sweating, breathlessness, sickness and looking very pale. Some people might have all these symptoms some might have only one or two. Obviously if you get these symptoms and are at risk of heart disease (eg have family history, are diabetic, smoke, do little exercise, are overweight, have high blood pressure or high cholesterol) you should call an ambulance immediately.

In answer to the question the pain is not a shooting pain but more of an ache. It has NOTHING to do with what side the heart is, it is to do with nerve endings. Yes, the pain is more common in the left but the right can be affected also.
