Anyone love beer?!

Question:

Anyone love beer?

I just started drinking beer at 50 and just LOVE the soothing way it goes down and the fact that it is a social drink and I can just sip on it and not get drunk. It fills me up enough but gets my appetite going so it has been a healthy substitute for wine at dinner... I would be too thirsty with the wine so I would keep drinking it and it wrecked my next day. Anyone else have a real love for beer without the need for getting drunk?

Answers:

Absolutely. You don't say what brands you've tried, but Brooklyn Lager is the best lager I've ever had; almost as hoppy as an India Pale Ale but without the extreme dryness of an IPA. Review: http://www.united-nations-of-beer.com/br...

I can also recommend a super beer from Quebec, if you like ginger! Boreale Blanche (nice polar bear on the label too...). It's light-tasting with lovely spicy tones, including ginger. http://www.united-nations-of-beer.com/bo...

The truth is, the world of beer is just as broad and interesting as that of wine. Finally consumers are realising that the likes of Coors and Bud are NOT what beer is all about. Microbreweries are growing in number and popularity.

Check out a beer festival in your area and try a myriad of flavours in one place -- you will be truly awestruck by what's out there. And more power to you for sharing this insight. It's a shame so many people buy what's biggest and cheapest and never go beyond that spectrum of bland, well-marketed stuff.
