www!.calorieking!.com is a fabulous web site with nutritional information!.
What he can or can not eat depends on the way that he is being treated!. Does he take oral meds!? insulin!? diet control only!?
He really should ask for a referral to spend a little time with a nutritionist to understand his restrictions!. Also, many fast foods are more of a problem in the fat and salt departments than carbohydrates!. The sodium could be a major contributing factor to his hypertension!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A diabetic should eat meals low in carbs!. You are right, you won't find that at a fast food place!. Meals should contain no more than 45 grams of carbs and 2 daily snacks of 15 carbs each!. Your brother should have an appointment with a dietitian or nutritionist to help him with his meal plan and diet!. Todays diabetics can eat almost everything as long as it is within reason and not over a certain amount of carbs!. He will have to learn how to count carbs, this is something that is easy to learn and a nutritionist can help him a lot!. He should also sign up for a few diabetic educational classes to help him learn about his disease and how to control it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There is no such thing as a diabetic diet!. In fact, the diet for most people with diabetes is the same as the diet for people without diabetes!. If you have diabetes, you do not have to buy foods speci?cally marketed to people with diabetes (for example, cookies, jams, and candy for people with diabetes, labeled as sugar-free)!.

1!. Severely limit your carb level, taking only from the low glycemic range!.

2!. Don't load your metabolism to the eye balls first thing in the morning, stick to protein and veg and nuts of the low carb kind!.

3!. Do not eat any carbs once you finnish work, since your body will be much less efficient once it becomes less active!.

Dear Friend,
I am diabetic since last 11yrs type-2 and hail from a heriditary backdrop of this illness Running down our Family
I took it lightly and ended up with severe attacks on health 3 times inbetween the 11yrs and is now extremely careful

Its a food oriented illness just learn to respect it by controlling what one eats and drink

Request ur brother to give-up both drinking/smoking
Ask him to split breakfast/lunch/dinner into Two-parts atleast 90mts apart
Stop sugar and other foods like cakes/pastries/beverages etc until sugar level is down to normal
one can occassionally have some sweety stuff when sugar-level dips

Excersie 30mts 5days a week shud help prevent pressure and sugar-levels moving-up Walking will do

Avoid meat and flip over Fish, vegetables both fresh in the form of salads and boiled
Fruits like plantain, pineapple is too sweat Avoid

Go for Strawberries,Watermelon,Kiwi, apple and an occassional orange
Drink forcefully Daily atleast 10glassess water it will keep the kidney/lever fully worked cleansed and healthy

South Beach phase 2 really works and most of the Endos in the country are advising it for their diabetic patients!.

Yes, high blood pressure goes along with this!.

As a truck driver he doesn't get the amount of exercise he needs!. He should stop and walk as fast as he can for about an hour every day!.

He can go to "fast food" places just like the rest of us can!. I just toss the bun from the burger and get onion rings instead of french fries! then use a lot of catsup on the FFs!!! That equates to a good salad and is under 40 grams of carbohydrate for the meal!.

I eat salads in preferance to most restaurant foods as well!. Chefs Salads with the dressing on the side is a thing of beauty and if we keep with that we are doing all the good!.

Bacon or sausage and eggs with one toast are a very good breakfast!. about 15 grams of carbohydrate for this meal!.

I know that the doctors say to avoid oils and greasy foods, but they slow down the absorption of Carbohydrates!. If we leave all the greasy stuff like bacon, sausage, salad dressings, some deep fried stuff out of our food plans, WE HAVE STARVING SENSATIONS!! So a little bit is a necessary inclusion!.

He needs to be checking his glucose frequently!. Making sure he eats properly before getting in his truck and making darned sure his glucose is on the rise and over 100 when he starts out!. He will need to stop every 3 hours to refuel his body!! a lot of very small meals will solve these problems really quickly!.

Much good luck to your brother!! talk to me more if you want!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A jumbo soda alone contains more carbs than most people with diabetes should eat during 2 meals combined, adds Amy Campbell, RD, education program manager at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston!. Add up the nutritional stats on typical fast-food items, and you have a recipe for excess tummy fat, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and high blood cholesterol!.

Yet, fast food is a vice that most people would find difficult to completely give up!. And you don't have to, as long you make it an occasional meal
