Have a friend with a blood sugar of almost 450! How really close is this to getting admitted to the hospital?

He just went to the Dr. today and then went out and ate everything he shouldn't have! What does it take to make a person wake up to the facts?

He has been diabetic for several years and has one kidney.

If his blood sugar was 450 his doc should have never let him out of the office. This man needs to see a diabetic nurse but nothing will wake him up unitl he loses a foot or his leg from gangerene and can't walk much d/t diabetic neuropathy and can't see any more. When he is on dialysis because his kidneys don't function he will regret things. There is no way to get him to change unless maybe taking him to a dialysis clinic so he can talk to others or see those who have lost limbs from gangarene from not taking care of the diabetes from early on.
