Question: Experiences with MRSA in daycare!?
I have been trying to treat a diaper rash for 3 weeks!. Last night we noticed a pimple like rash in the diaper area separate from the open skin lesion that my son has had for three weeks!. We have been treating it with Bactroban and Silividine Cream!. When I dropped him off this morning I mentioned it to my daycare provider and told her that once again I would be calling the doctor to see what could be done!. She informed me that there was a child with MRSA in her diaper area 3-4 weeks ago and that she had told em about it!. I think I would have remembered that!. My son has an appt!. with the pediatrician for the third time in a month and I am livid!. The daycare lady stated that she doubts that the bacteria was spread since it was covered by a diaper!. Has anyone else had any reported cases in their daycare!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

MRSA has nothing to do with lack of health care and more to do with lack of hygiene!.!.!.it lives on every human beings skin and in nasal passages!. If a daycare provider changed a child with mrsa, then without washing her hands changed your child it could have been transmitted that way, especially if your child already had a skin disturbance!.
Have your pediatrician culture the sore to diagnose it properly then proceed from there!. I would document what the daycare manager/owner had to say, the dates you noticed the sores etc in the case you have to bring suit against them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have never heard of that in a child care facility and have worked in this field for over 10 years!. It is an infection that is usually common in places where people lack health care!. I would be very concerned and call the center for disease control to have them investigate!. This is your child you are talking about!. I would bring this up to his doctor and ask them if it is a possibility that this diaper rash is MRSA!? If so, that means that it spread somehow through the lack of cleaning and sanitation!.
