Is a bee's stinger noticeable?!

Question:

Is a bee's stinger noticeable?

My mum has just been stung by a bee but there doesn't seem to be a stinger...she said she just whacked the bee off when it stung her and now it's left a tiny red dot?
Also, she says the bee has disappeared from when she left it..though they are meant to die when they've stung. She says it deffinately was a bee.

Answers:

My dad was called bug man for many years so it kind of rubbed off on me. So I'm sure i can give you a logical explanation. The reason for your mom not feeling the sting is quite easy to explain... sometimes when you flick the bee off your skin the sack or stinger wont stay behind put some bicarbonate of soda in it to neutralise the poison, your mom probably has bad circulation in her first 6 layers of skin making it allot harder to bruise or to feel the sting of bees. Then bees die within 4 min-nuts after stinging something or someone so its quite natural for the be to have flown off. Hope Ive been some help
