Question about itchy, large mole.?!

Question:

Question about itchy, large mole.?

First, I have a Dr. appt. tomorrow. However, I have made myself sick, and have convinced myself that I have a malanoma. Is there anyone on this site who has had a mole checked that meets some of the criteria for a malanoma and has gotten a benign result? My mole is on my back, began itching Saturday, is really rather large. It is one consistent color of medium brown and there is no bleeding of color out of the edges. I'm not sure about symmetry. It is raised the same amount throughout and one side looks like the other in texture and color. It isn't really scalloped but it is not completely round in shape. It is a dull and dry looking. It itches quite a bit.
I am on hormones. Thank you so much for insight.

Answers:

First of all, stop freaking out. Melanoma will not kill you right away. You have to ignore it for a LONG time before it spreads and kills you. Chill out. A melanoma is a mole that increases in size regularly. I am covered in moles. We keep an eye on them to make sure they don't turn black and start to grow. I had one we were worried about, but it turned out fine. I am extremely pale, by the way, and at a very high risk for skin cancer. I burn with only 15 minutes in the sun.

Dude, just use sun screen every time you walk out the door and stop being a worry-wart.
