Born with no sinuses in my head?!
Question:
Born with no sinuses in my head?
Also, the ones I have are the size of a six year old I just found out that is why I have severe asthma. Is there a name for this defect? Otherwise I am fine. Does anyone know if there is a name for this, and is it common?

No need for second opinion, I saw the CAT SCAN with my own eyes. I didn't ask what it was called, because at the time it didn't seem like a big deal. It took 10 years and many doctors to make the asthma/sinus connection
Answers:
You may be referring to sinus aplasia or sinus hypoplasia. "Aplasia" means absent or no growth; "hypoplasia" means undergrowth.
You have four sinus locations--frontal, ethmoid, sphenoid, and maxillary (http://www.sinuswars.com/sinus.htm).... You do not mention which of your sinus are undersized or absent. I understand that frontal sinus hypoplasia is present in 2-20% of the population and maxillary sinus hypoplasia is present in 1-5% of the population. I was unable to find reliable statistics for other types of sinus hypoplasia.
You may wish to research sinus aplasia or sinus hypoplasia. However, most literature on the Internet regarding these conditions is highly technical. Your physician, or a sinus specialist, may be able to provide a more specific diagnosis as well as literature that is not too technical or confusing.
