Is it a stye in my eye?!

Question:

Is it a stye in my eye?

I woke up this morning with a swollen eye lid.. I'm guessing a stye.. How do they happen? How do i treat it? I spent the whole day at the beach yesterday, does that have anything to do with it?

Answers:

A stye is caused by bacteria from the skin that get into the hair follicle of the eyelash. Hair follicles contain oil glands that become inflamed from the bacteria. Styes are similar to common acne pimples that occur elsewhere on the skin. You may have more than one stye at the same time.Styes usually develop over a few days and may drain and heal on their own.

Warm compresses help. There are over the counter meds that also are a great help. They are common in any grocery store or neighborhood pharmacy.
