Question: I have had loose stools/diarrhea for a week now!? What's wrong with me!?
I always have stomach issues when I'm stressed, but I don't have any major stresses going on right now, so I don't know what's wrong with me!. I felt like crap a week ago, and had loose stools, but i've had them over a week now and don't know what the issue is!. I feel OK I guess other than that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it could be anything!.!.!. that is to say that most of what makes us healthy happens in the stomach!.!. but there are a few things that you should bear in mind while you are suffering!.!.!.

1) while your bowels are loose, you're probably loosing a lot more water than normal, that's why it's important to keep up with your fluid intake!.!.!. and to ensure that you have a good electrolyte balance!.!.!. I recommend drinking some Gatorade every few hours, or at least some type of non fizzy soft drink that is actually balanced to help, rather than to just put sugars into your system (right now sugars would be a bad idea)

2) you need to regulate your bowel a little, and that means that (although it sounds crazy) you may need to eat MORE fiber!.!.!. (yes, you heard me right) contrary to popular opinion, fiber doesn't make you have diarrhea, it just pulls more water through your digestive tract, and should help to act as a mediator to your stools!.!.!. In other words, your stools will be softer, but they will be less likely to be watery, and will be more consistent in nature!.!.!. My recommendation there is for Mucinex fiber biscuits that you can pick up in any pharmacy in the US (that is if you are in the US!.!. let me know!.!.!. they work great)!.!.

3) one thing that may be a factor (and forgive me for not getting this part right, you could have a million causes for your condition (virus, bacteria, dairy allergy etc!.!.!.) is your alcohol intake!.!.!. a lot of alcohol can mess with the stomach chemistry in a big way, so be careful about both what you eat, and what you drink!.!. (not accusing, just suggesting, you sound like you need ideas and help)

4) stomach ills are often helped by removing the toxins in the gut, so I'd suggest Pepto Bismol (over the counter) and DRY toast (yeah it sucks but!.!.!.!.) these will help to adsorb the nasties in your stomach that may be there!.!.!.!.

5) I'd truly start NOW keeping a food and drink log, so that you have something useful to show any doctor that you might have to see in the future!.!. yeah I know that sucks too, but a small notepad can easily slip into your pocket, and could make the difference with any future diagnosis!.!.

6) and finally!.!.!. if things don't improve in the next few days, I'd head to the doc!.!. that's what they are there for and although if you're in the us (and hence have a less than desirable health care system) if you get to the doc, at least he can rule out any of the great nasties that it MIGHT be!.!.!. (but good luck paying the bill!)

I wish you the best (and hope I have helped)

sickness of any kind is not fun!.!.!. especially that kind!.!.

Extreme heat can cause that too but also my family just got over a stomach virus that lasted about a week in the bowels!.

Just try to stay near a bathroom and keep hydrated that's the best you can do!. If you had what we had, it's an inconvenience but won't hurt you in the long run!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
