Are there health risks associated with being married to a smoker other than seco!

Question:

Are there health risks associated with being married to a smoker other than second hand smoke itself?

My husband has said I could possibly get nicotine into my system from picking up his cigarette butts. When I kiss him I can taste the ciggarettes. I have stomache problems and headaches, and have been diagnosed with seizures (but show no outward signs of the siezures other than the headaches and some tiny muscle spasms in odd places). Could any of these health issues be associated with my husbands smoking? He smokes outside, so I'm not often subjected to second hand smoke.

Answers:

You could get a bit of nicotine from picking up the butts, but that is a negligable amount.

I don't think that the butts or the second-hand smoke would be enough to cause your headaches, stomach aches, and seizures, and I am hesitant to say that they're even all related to each other. But it would still be a good idea to visit with your doctor and express your concerns... the doctor will know what to do.

It may be that the smoking is contributing to your ill health, and it's certainly putting his health at risk too. Though no smoker appreciates nagging, do what you can to help him quit... the sooner the better.
