What causes a person to 'zone out'?
Sometimes, I can't feel anything like my body shuts down and my eyes while open is starry. I become incapacitated for a few minutes.

When this happens noone can bring me out of it for a while. Then when I come to I stay very drained and tired even if I wasn't before the episode.
Answers:
It actually could be a seizure. I had a friend who had epilepsy and that is what her seizures were like.
It could also be low blood sugar or you are just tired.
