Does shampoo cause acne?!

Question:

Does shampoo cause acne?

I use Pantene that get up to 75% smoother hair, and on the bottom it says smooth and sleek, smoothes straight or wavy hair for extra siliness. What do you think? and what shampoo's do you recommend?

Answers:

Any shampoo can give you acne, especially around the hairline. Like others have said you have to make sure you rinse well. You could also have an allergy to something in the shampoo. A lot of shampoos use sulfur which can irritate sensitive skin. I would also like to note that Pantene (which really doesn't have the very greatest of products) uses chemicals to make your hair smoother. To be totally honest I use simple shampoos, like Prell or even Baby Shampoo. For a conditioner, I'd opt for a light conditioner for daily use and a leave in treatment (like Infusium, for both) for weekly use. As for getting smoother hair, use hair products to acheive this. Never, never, never use products with alcohol in them. More than likely your hair isn't smooth because of use of hair products with alcohol. Read the ingredients before you buy anything. Most gels I know have alcohol, but a lot of mousses don't. Just know what your putting on your hair and what negative it could possibly do. If the acne still persists, I would try to get an acne fighting face cleanser, or maybe even a regimen like Proactiv. I hope all gets better for you!
