Answers:
Iron can make your "poo" turn dark and also can cause constipation!. The hard poo could have broken the skin and caused the bleeding, especially if you have hemorrhoids!. Go to the pharmacy, tell the pharmacist what iron pills you are taking and also any other medicine you are taking, and ask if it is safe to take stool softeners with them!. They are not laxatives, they just make it softer!. If the bleeding doesn't stop after the stool softener does its job, you should check it out with the doctor to make sure the bleeding isn't caused by something more serious!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If the blood is 'dripping' then it means that it is coming from somewhere very near the exit and is unlikely to anything sinister, more likely a tiny tear from straining!. Iron sulphate is not the best form to take iron supplements, it's hard to absorb and commonly causes constipation (but very cheap)!. If you go to your nearest independent health food shop you can buy an iron supplement that is much gentler, there are various forms and the retailer should be able to help you!.

Why are you taking iron!? Iron is one of the few vits/mins that it is easy to overdose on and should only be taken when clinically indicated!. Usually it is prescribed when a full blood count is low, but I wouldn't take it unless I was given a serum ferritin test!.

If you change or stop your supplement and the blood continues to drip for several more days then you should go to the GP and get it checked out!.

Yes Ferrous or anything containing iron will make poo black!. Not sure about the blood though!. Possibly hard poo and straining has caused a fissure or a haemorrhoid in your anus, causing the bleeding, Get it checked out though to eliminate bowel cancer!. ;Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hard black poo can be the result of taking iron tablts and if said poo is hard, you have to strain and you have piles the result is blood coming from your anus, Www@Answer-Health@Com
