Do blood tests hurt?

I'm going to the doctors tomorrow, and am getting a blood test...I am absolutely terrified of needles and hate going to the doctors. Yes its my first one!! Do you even feel it at all?? I kinda need some comfort right now. =[[

What else do they do to you at the doctors??

NOTE: if you're going to be unhelpful, save urself trouble and just gon't answer!

Answers:

Assuming that this is a routine blood test, it will be taken from your arm. They will tie off the upper arm with a rubber tubing that encourages the blood flow into the needle and it also helps with any pain that you might feel. At most you will feel a slight prick, nothing more than a little pinch. Just don't watch the procedure and it will be less traumatic. it is over in a flash and it is just one of life's little inconveniences that we all have to learn to deal with. You might feel more comfortable if you share your concern with the phlebotomist, (person drawing the blood). They will most likely take your blood pressure which consists of a strap around your arm that is tightened. You will fill a little pressure but that is all, and they will probably take your temperature. Other actions that they will take depends on what you are being seen for.
Good luck and be brave! :)
