Answers:
Hi there,

You are the carrier for the PKU disease but it is not caused by the heavy doses of X-Ray!. What happened to you is that your immune system was destroyed due to the high doses of X-Ray!. X-Ray destroys the DNA in your immune cells (namely B and T cells) rendering them inactive to fight the infections!. Therefore, when your body encountered the pathogens, it is infected and that causes your temperature to soar!. So, basically (do not quote me) X -ray shouldn't cause genes to mutate, it destroys the cells which are exposed to it!. Did you have autoimmune disorder (e!.g!. multiple sclerosis [MS]; lupus, etc)!? i deduce it from the fact that you mentioned X-ray as a cure for your disease!. So, there, you are carrier for the gene and that's not caused by the X-ray!. Furthermore, PKU is manageable with proper diet during infancy (strictly no meat)!.

hope this info helps,

PKU is inherited in an autosomal recessive pattern, which means two copies of the gene must be altered for a person to be affected by the disorder!. Most often, the parents of a child with an autosomal recessive disorder are not affected but are carriers of one copy of the altered gene!.
So you are a misdiagnosed case, you already suffered huge weight loss it mean's you had the disease!.
Your carrier state can be evaluated,by your doctor ( Screening )!.
Exposure to Xray do have mutation effect but in pregnant women in early trimester of pregnancy e!.g malformation etc!.
