Hey there!.!.that makes two of us!.!.I have been diagnosed with (hypothroidism underactive thyroid production) for about 2 years now!. I get a blood test every 6 months to make sure I am in the normal range and that we don't need to adjust the dosage!. They start you out with the lowest dosage and go from there to see if the doc needs to up it or if it is working fine at the 25mg!. Usually takes 2 months to notice a difference in energy level!. Once you are on the right dosage your body will get regulated!. Hypothyroidism affects all of your body!. Thoughts, energy, organs, etc!. Just takes time!. I feel a lot better now that I am regulated!. And yes I had depression, mainly b/c I didn't have the will to do anything!. I slept alot and felt miserable!. You will get better, just dont miss your appointments!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Normally they check you every 6 weeks until they get the dose right!. Once they get the dose right you only need to be seen every 6 months to make sure your levels are stable!. If you still feel bad I would call your doctor and ask them to check your levels again!. You may also need something for depression at this time until your levels are stabilized because under active thyroid can cause depression, fatigue, weight gain, hot and cold sensitivity and the like, so better they check it again to be sure!. I have had thyroid disease for 4 years and keep mine well controlled, but when levels are off I know right away!. I am currently taking 175 mcg per day!. I was at 200 mcg and people thought my dr had lost his mind, but another thing most don't realize is that when you get pregnant your body doesn't metabolize the hormone the way it normally dose so when pregnant you will end up taking more then you will not pregnant!. Once your dose is correct though you will notice a change in energy level within a few days!. I know I did!. Good luck to you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

the sh*it thing about this situation your in is that it takes about a year to feel better!. i was in the same situation a few years back and it took a full year for the medication to take effect!. I'm guessing you misstyped that and actually mean 25 micro grams!? thats a really small dose anyways!. I'm on 100 and I'm only borderline underactive anyways!. see another doctor for a 2nd opinion!. some doctors will keep you as low as possible because they are scared you will go overactive and sue them, some other doctors will keep you on the higher end of normal which i found is the perfect solution!. You need to see the doctor who originally diagnosed your problem , many others see the chart and assume incorrectly you've had the problem awhile!.Return to the doctor who diagnosed you to adjust your medication properly!.This should be done every 30-60 days until your sure it's the correct dosage!.After the medication is correct then you will need to be checked at least once a year maybe twice!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi I have an over active thyroid!.
I have a blood test every six weeks (I just had my third) and see my doctor a week after that for the results!.
I would think that you should be the same!. Regular checkups and blood tests!.
I was diagnosed in June as well, and I have had 3 blood tests and seen a Consultant at my local hospital!.

If you are still feeling unwell, you need to see your doctor!. I started to feel better after being on my medication for about 4 weeks!. You should be feeling better, as the Thyroxine should be giving your body the hormaone you are lacking in!. (I have too much thyroxine, which is where our conditions differ)!.

When I was diagnosed I when to the nhs direct website and got useful inforamtion there!.

I hope it helps you too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your D woulda said he wants to get your dosage correct over some time!. Depression is common with hypothyroidism and if you not feeling any better then I would think your not at your bodies correct dosage yet!. My trial of dasoges went on for over a year and am now taking 150mg thyroxine day!. Give it some time to get the dosage right and things will turn believe me!. My depression went and things started to look much better for me!. I lost 4 stone, my hair grew back, my skin was not extremely dry anymore, started going loo regular and eating everyday instead of three!. You have an exciting time ahead of you as you body starts to work properly!. energy levels through the roof ;- )
Good luck with it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm in the same boat as you!.!.!.just been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid as well!. Also been put on 25mcg dosage and was told that it would take a while to work out the correct dosage!. I was under the impression that we need to be seen every 3 or 4 months to get bloods rechecked!. Like yourself though I feel completely exhausted and pretty low most of the time!.!.!.what a raw deal we've got! Not really answered your question I know but perhaps go back and have a chat with your own doctor and tell him how your feeling, hope this helps :0)Www@Answer-Health@Com

you need to go back to the doctor!. Like another answerer ive just had my third blood test for underactive thyroid!. At first you should have one every 6 weeks seeing the doc the following week, so he can adjust the dose!. Luckily im borderline so was quick to sort out and dont have to go back for 6 months!.
You should not be feeling like this, see someone else if you dont want to see the same doctor but please go, there is no need to feel the way you doWww@Answer-Health@Com

It takes time to adjust to those types of meds!. I am thinking that does not sound so odd, June to October!. The medication has to have time to stabilize before whether it is working or not can be established!.

October is not that far away, just be sure you keep your appointment and do the follow up they tell you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you have hypothyroidism!. your levels should be checked a little sooner about every 6-8weeks is standard when you are starting thyroid medications!. Some docs recommend every 4 weeks!. Your doc is waiting too long in between checking your levels!. I started synthroid in July and am going in this week to have my levels rechecked!. your doc put you on the lowest dose possible!. The fact that you are having symptoms means your meds are not helping enough!. Make sure you take your meds on an empty stomach(not even with coffee) and do not cosume soy products of anykind or walnuts!. Soy is very bad for thyroid patients!.
I became hypothyroid after surgery!. if you need more help and support you can join one of yahoos thryoid groups!. theres thyroid USA and each state has a group too!.
A good website to get help from is thyroid!.about!.comWww@Answer-Health@Com

I would think that he would see you every month at least, until he gets the dosage right!. You are evidently not taking the right amount!. Your doctor probably thinks you are doing okay!. Call him and tell him about your depression!.!.!.!.caused form a defective thyroid!. I had to keep calling every week until the dosage was right!. Phone calls are a lot cheaper!.!.he will just advise you to up the dosage each time you call!. HUGS!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Blood work is usually done every 2-3 months!. Sometimes there is a need to check more regularly until they get your level/medication correct
As your feeling like this, the best thing to do is go back to your GP and explain your story againWww@Answer-Health@Com

I'm monitored every two months for under active thyroid, that means a blood test!.

I takes a while to realise the correct dosage, and tablets can cause other symptoms, I have become anaemic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

go back to the doctor the dosage may be wrong, or you could have something else wrongWww@Answer-Health@Com
