My dad is 81 and lost his sense of smell. He can taste good yet but has always had sinus problems.?

Wondering what could cause the loss of smell?

Answers:

My nephew who is now 20 lost his is sense of smell when he is was a child. He did have a lot of colds and sinus problems when he was younger. Other than that he is fine. He can taste fine too. ( he loves to eat- big guy- 6ft 3in over 200lbs)
