Question: My mum has cancer, has any one been through this!?
my mother has recently been diagnosed with cancer!. She is just starting chemo and radiotherapy!. The doctors cant or wont give an answer about the prognoses its pretty bad!.
I am 30 years old and suddenly I feel like a little kid again!. Sometimes I get this urge to just yell "I want my mummy" She lives a 4 hour plane ride away at the moment!. Im going there next month for a week!.
I really want to go for longer but she thinks a week will be long enough!. Im really struggling with being so far away!. I cant move there because i have a little girl and i cant take her away from her dad!.
I dont know what im asking, i feel like my worlds gone crazy!. im so angry, terrified, and sometimes just numb!.
How do i make sense of this!? How do i explain to my 3 year old why nana is so sick!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

Nicole- "Cancer" is not always a fatal diagnosis!. Over half the people with cancer have been cured!. Each cancer behaves in a different way and has different responses to different treatments!. You need to contact your mum's doctor and discuss her future outlook!. While her doctor cannot know her specific outcome, they can tell you what is likely, on average, for patients with her specific diagnosis and spread, knowing it will be a best guess - but an experienced answer!. Your local Cancer Society might provide you with some general information, maybe even your local physician!. Is there someone living near your mum who could keep you informed by telephone of her health status!? Your dad!?
As for your 3 year old, be honest, but not scary!. Explain that we do not always know the answers to why some people get sick, and that we have to wait and pray that granny will get better!. It's very tough to feel helpless as you may at this time!. Try speaking with your local clergyman!. My prayers are with you and your family!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I understand your mental stress at this moment!. You have not given any details of the disease such as - part of body affected, grade and stage of the disease, age of your mom and her other health conditions without which it is not possible to tell prognosis!. There are many types of cancer and treatments depends much on the stage!.
In general I can say cancer is a deadly disease and if it is in the early stages and detected early and treated properly with surgery, Chemotherapy and Radiation therapy, the patient can survive and the life can be extended for some more years!. If the disease in early stage is found it can be cured also!. It all depends on the above details!.
Anyway please attend her immediately and I pray for her recover at the earliest!.
