Can sitting at a computer for hours cause a Dvt?!

Question:

Can sitting at a computer for hours cause a Dvt?

Answers:

Yes, if you're still. If you move your legs around, like if you're on a swivel chair or something then I doubt there's much of a chance. There was a case in my local paper, my friend's brother's mate (what a link!) who was only about 15 at the time, was sitting at his games console for literally hours, with his legs crossed. He got DVT, he was pretty sick from what I can remember, but he's OK now.

The important thing to realise is that it's not healthy to sit at a computer without a break for hours anyway - DVT risks or not. It can cause back problems and all sorts. I'm sure you know all that, but if you have to work at a pute all day at work, make sure you take some time to have a walk around your building, go out for lunch somedays and keep your legs moving.
