Is it possible to lose your tan?!

Question:

Is it possible to lose your tan?

I mean if you got a tan by going to the beach. and can you lose that tan and get your natural skin color after couple days.
I am asking this because I got kind of brownish white skin and after getting this tan I look so dark right now. is it going to be normal agian? what is going to help my skin get it's natural color back?

Answers:

Tanning on the beach is one of the better ways to get skin cancer. If it runs in your family, I'd lay off the sun for a while.
Skin naturally renews itself once every 28 days or so. You're only damaging the top skin cells, but the radiation seeps through.
To answer your question, it'll fade in time. People who normally tan or burn always lose it in time for this reason. It has to do with the layers of your skin. The epidermis is the top layer, then comes the dermis and then the hypodermis.

Notably, the epidermis has 5 layers to it.
The tan only affects the epidermis basically.
Things like tattoos go past to the dermis and that's why the dyes keep their place and don't 'wash off'.

Hope that helps.
