Drugs relating to a patient with cancer?!

Question: Drugs relating to a patient with cancer!?
My friend has been diagnosed with bone marrow cancer, and his consultant simply do a blood test every 3 months, but he does not give him anything else!. Is this normal, or because of National Health service drugs cut backs, he has been told not to give anything to his patients!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
As the bone marrow is involved in the manufacture of blood cells a blood test will show how active the cancer is!.
Lack of red cells = anaemia, white cells = infection, platelets = clotting of blood!.
That is the simplest explanation, plus the blood test will show if, say, kidney function is normal, so there's a lot of info from a blood sample!.
Treatments usually involve chemotherapy, radiotherapy and are quite debilitating!.
You do not say how old your friend is or whether this friend has close relatives as one option can be a bone marrow transplant!.
If there is another primary source that would be dealt with too (as following breast cancer diagnosed so late it has spread)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Depends on what sort of cancer it is, there are some bone marrow cancers (leukaemia) that are so slow growing and don't need any specific treatments!.!.!.depends alot on the age of the patient and the physical health!.!.!.people lump cancer into one disease but there are over 200 different types of cancer and some respond to treatment better than others, some grow so slowly and are not aggressive so require no treatment at initial diagnosis!.

If you are unhappy your friend should get referred to a major cancer hospital for a 2nd opinion!.

If you are worried about NHS funding (and who isn't!?) go to www!.after-cancer!.com/cancer in the news!.

Info there about way PCTs (quango that dishes out money, or doesn't, for drugs) spending thousands in giving themselves a name change and new logo!.

It has made me very angry!.

If your friend does not trust his consultant, he should go to another one! And if he has that much of an issue with National Health, there are no laws preventing him from paying for & going to see a private doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It depends on the type!. There are a couple of types of leukemia that really dont have much treatment, can only be monitored!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
