Anyone ever use tea tree oil too close to their lips and have it produce cold so!

Question: Anyone ever use tea tree oil too close to their lips and have it produce cold sore like symptoms!?
I've been using tea tree oil for my acne for the last 3 days, and all of a sudden today, I have a painful, red, flaky area around the bottom of my lip!. It's not actually on my lip, but just on the skin underneath!. I don't know if it's the tea tree oil irritating the area, or if it's the beginnings of a cold sore!. At the ripe old age of 25, I've actually never had a cold sore before, despite being exposed to it many times by my husband (knock on wood)!. So, I'm really not sure what the beginnings of a cold sore look or feel like!. I was just wondering if any tea tree oil users experienced this!? Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
yeah! i used tea tree oil from the body shop and it gave me 2 little cold sore looking spots by my lips!. i quit using the tea tree oil because think about it--- it is oil and you're supposed to avoid oily products while you have pimples!. use neosporin cream (not ointment!) on the area by your lips to clear up the spots!. if you want to keep using the oil, do so but don't go near your lips with it anymore!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I love tea tree oil, its good for lots of things but it is strong!. be careful maybe your using too much!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes tea tree oil sometimes can produce cold sore around the lips as a sign of putting too much to that area!. Cold sores usually started by a tingling sensation and it's a little red!. If it progress it will get more red and some burning sensation and spread out!. Since you never have cold sore, I wouldn't assume you have the severe case, whenever this happens, you can put some anti-itch cream on (just a little bit to see if it helps with the redness and itchiness) if not, try abreva!. N most of the time, don't put tea tree oil close by your lips!. Hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
