What to expect?!

Question:

What to expect?

I am having a sleep study test done on monday to see if I have sleep apnea. What should I expect at the test? what if you can't fall asleep? do you have any privacy?Tell me all you know! Thanks!!

Answers:

You'll go to the sleep clinic that evening. You will have a private room and most of the time you will get a regular bed as opposed to a hospital bed. Take whatever you normally wear to sleep in. Don't think you have to wear something "hospital appropriate". They will mark your head with marks so they no where to put the sticky pads for the wires for the EEG machine. You'll also have various wire leads on other parts of your body. Then you'll get in bed and try to go to sleep. Some of the sleep clinics have TV's for you to watch as you go to sleep, other's do not.

Don't expect to get a lot of sleep that night, most people don't because of all the equipment you are attached to - that's normal.
