Why would my Pediatrician insist on a Chest X-ray and bloodwork first b4 antibiotics for my child!. His breath sounds are clear and he has just a small amount of post-nasal drip, no cough!. Bloodwork!? What would that should relating to an infection besides the WBC's!. I didn't think you could tell if an intection was bacterial or virus by bloodwork!. Maybe a blood culture but again- you would have to wait three days!. Why the run around!? my son had been sick for 18 days!. For many days he has been temping 103 constantly- I have to give Tylenol and Motrin constantly!. Only the Motrin really works!.!.!. please what gives!Www@Answer-Health@Com

it is protocol at any ER or docs office usually, to order a CXR and bloodwork on children especially!. Especially if he had a fever!.!.that is a given to do all these tests!.!.and plus!.!.in today's wonderful society doctors have to cover their butts, for fear of lawsuits!. and!.!.anti-biotics arent always the best way to treat an illness!.!.especially in kids!.!.!.antibiotics are being overused, and are causing strains of illness causing bacteria to mutate and become 'stronger' and harder to treat!. (MRSA)!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your doctor is doing everything he can to find out what is wrong with your child!. X rays will show if there is problems with the lungs , heart, and other things!. Blood work will tell a lot of stories, especially if there are increased amounts of white cells!. It all depends on what tests he is running!. If you are so upset with what your doctor is doing, find another one!. Personally, I think he is following procedure very well!. Too many doctors give antibiotics just because their patients expect to get a prescription for them when they see a doctor or they feel the visit was worthless!. Many doctors just give in to the patients!. Apparently your doctor does not think antibiotics are warranted at this time!. I would trust his judgment!. He has a lot more knowledge than you in this area!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are many different kinds of antibiotics just as there are many different kinds of disease!.It sounds like this doctor simply wants to find out what is wrong with your child before arbitrarily writing a prescription!.
Many a virus does not just clear up after 14 days; eg!. EBV, influenza, HIV, sars, etc, etc!.
A chest x-ray can show if the lungs are involved or not, narrowing down the potential illness!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Precaution!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

he wanted the blood work because your child has been sick for 18 days - he wanted the blood test to see if it gave some clue as to what was really going on!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
