Cysts are resistant and can survive in cold water for several months infection occurs with ingestion of cysts in water, There are several prescription drugs to treat this, metronidazole and tinidazole and nitazoxanide!.
Amebiasis;;
Caused by parasite entamoebahistolytica!. It can affect anyone more common in unsanitary conditions this is hard to diagnosis since this parasite can look like another type!. Several antibiotics are available to treat this!.
Dracunculiasis;;
This is another parasite, this effects poor communties in remote parts of Africa without safe waters to drink NO treatments for this yet!Guinea worm disease is only way to treat is to waite for worm to emerge from the person's skin then get rid of!. Drinking contaminated water is the only way to get this disease!.

I only know of the typical viruses (Norwalk virus) bacteria (salmonella, e!.coli) and parasites!.
Then there is also mercury, arsenic and lead!.
