Lower right quadrant abdominal pain in a 15 yr old girl. What could it be?!

Question: Lower right quadrant abdominal pain in a 15 yr old girl!. What could it be!?
My daughter is 15 and has been in (managed) constant severe pain since May 5th, 2008!. She has seen all kinds of doctors and is under the care of a pediatric gastroenterologist now!. She just had colonoscopy and edg in late August, along with biopsies and enzyme testing!. Everything came back normal!. Here is a list of what tests she's had and what has been ruled out:

Blood tests (once her pancratic enzyme levels were just above normal)
stool samples (no blood present)
Ultrasound + 2 CT scans - no appendicitis, no tumors
Pelvic Ultrasound - no ovarian cyst
Nuclear Scan - no Meckels Diverticulitis

She has been tested for Celiac's and all other food allergies!. Nothing!. The scopes were to rule out Crohn's and Colitis!. She is extremely healthy looking, she's an athlete, she runs 3-5 miles a day!. Her bloodwork always looks fantastic - it's been checked over 15 times in the last few months!.

She is taking Bentyl (intestinal cramping + pain) and Vicodin (for pain - which scares me to have her on 750-1500 mgs daily) and phenergan for nausea!. She has a hard time with raw veggies - she will have more pain after eating them!. If it weren't for the Vicodin, she would have diarrhea constantly too!. She vomits when the pain is bad!. If she keeps it under control, she functions!.

Have you heard of anything like this!? I am ready to take her to Ann Arbor or Washington DC!. She is a patient at DeVos Children's Hosp in Grand Rapids!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
They may have tested her for food allergies but she may be allergic to food additives, like the wax coating on store bought apple and cucumbers!. She maybe allergic to mold that is in the water line that sprays the veggies at the store!.

Also isn't there a type of epilepsy that effects the intestines first!?

I am also assuming the doctors tested her for a normal balance of her intestinal flora and fauna!. Yeast, acidophilus, etc!.

And have you considered that a single test could have a false negative!?
That something got messed up during the lab procedures of your daughters test!?

And are you sure its a digestive issue!? When you eat veggies you eat fiber which expands the intestines slightly, this expansion may be pushing on other things that are swollen!.

I had severe pain that would come and go for 7 years until finally some one figured out that my ureter, the tube that drains my kidney into my bladder, was not growing with my body!. It was just stretching longer and longer!. So essentially my kidney was not draining at the same rate it was filtering!. and the resultant pressure, after 7 years, killed it!. But it didn't show up on blood or kidney tests!. The only other symptom was high blood pressure!. But since the other tests were normal they ruled out the kidney!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Poor thing!.

At your next visit, ask to also be referred to an Internist!. They are quite good at sorting out things and deal with unusual cases!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yikes! That's very unfortunate to deal with that pain for so long!.

Maybe check with the doctor about her White Blood Cell Count!. If that's high it could mean her appendix is blocked and swelling with bacteria, causing a great deal of pain!. The appendix is located in the lower right quadrant, just off the ascending colon!. I had an experience when my appendix would swell up and subside before bursting, so no one really knew what was going on!. I had an acne breakout on my back that dermatologist and doctors had no answers!.

So check WBC Count and appendix!.

Hope this helpsWww@Answer-Health@Com
