My doctor says I am borderline diabetic?!

Question: My doctor says I am borderline diabetic!?
my friends say there is no such thing!.Is there!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Oh yes, there are many borderline cases!. You are usually borderline for a few years, I think, before becoming diabetic!. Be careful about the diet and lose weight, exercise!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Random Blood Glucose Test:
Random blood Glucose test gives your blood sugar at any time in a day!. Normal random blood sugar level should be less than 200mg/dl!. If your random blood glucose level is between 140mg/dl to 200mg/dl then you will have pre-diabetes!.

Oral glucose tolerance test
This test measures your response to sugar!. First we measure fasting blood glucose level, and then glucose solution is given, after that we measure blood glucose after 1 hour and 2hours!. A normal blood glucose level after an oral glucose tolerance test is less than 140 mg/dL!. Level between 140 mg/dL to 199 mg/dL suggests pre-diabetes!. A blood glucose level of 200 mg/dL or higher two hours after you drink the glucose solution may suggest that you have diabetes mellitus!.

I guess you could say pre-diabetes is the same as borderline diabetic!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I tend to agree with Amy and your friend!. Either you are diabetic or you are not!. If your glucose level is a bit high your doctor should be nice and declare you to be diabetic!. That way your insurance will pay most of the cost of the testing strips you will need to get control of your glucose levels!.

You need to change your food plan to low carb and get more exercise daily to gain control of the problem before it becomes a major money funnel from your bank account!.

Most endocrinologists are currently recommending South Beach phase 2 or Atkins phase 3 or Pritikin or Zone!. All have the attitude that we can live better with much fewer grains, sweet fruits and starchy veggies in our food plans!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have to disagree with the first three answers here!. Although, I will say that "borderline" or "pre-diabetes" seem to me to be of a semantic issue than a true health distinction!.

Either your pancreas produces enough insulin to regulate your blood sugar at a constant healthy level (80-95 for non-diabetics) or it does not!. If it doesn't, I am inclined to say you have diabetes!. The difference is in the level of function your pancreas still has!. If you have 90% function, for example, a person might consider that "borderline!." (That was just a number I made up for the example, not based on any research I have read!.)

If you are at risk for developing Type 2 diabetes you can minimize your chances to make it worse through a healthy diet and exercise - even to the point where you do not need any medications!. So be healthy and get your blood sugar checked frequently at your doc!. If you start to feel thirsty, peeing a lot, tired and/or nauseous, make an appt immediately!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, there is!. Your friend is wrong!. It's called pre-diabetes I hope you Dr told you how to help lower you blood glucose so that you do not become a full blown diabetic!.

If you are over weight you need to lose weight!. Obesity is the #1 cause of DM type 2Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, there is a "thing called borderline diabetic"!.

Below is a great site for information on what is meant when the doc says you're borderline diabetic!.
