A stress test is a routine procedure for evaluation the hearts function and circulation!. When you arrive for your test, the technician will start an IV!. You will be taken into a room and positioned on a table where a camera will rotate around you taking baseline pictures of your heart!. This is a fairly open machine, so if you are clostrophobic, you should still be fine!.

After the first set of pictures, you will be taken to another room where you will be attached to an EKG machine and the chemical (probably adenosine) will be injected through your IV!. The tech will monitor your heart rate and rhythm during this!. Depending on why you have to have the chemical test instead of the exercise test, you may be asked to walk slowly on a treadmill during this time!. If you aren't able to walk, you may be asked to kick you legs while sitting in a chair or nothing at all!.

After this, you will have a waiting period for the medication to circulate before pictures being taken under the camera again!. The images will be compared to see if there are areas of your heart that don't seem to be getting blood flow evenly!.

Most facilities will not allow you to leave if there is any significant difference in the pictures!. You should be contacted by your doctors office with the results in 2-3 days!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Kathrina nailed it, however, be aware that when they inject the chemical through the iv you may feel a lot of pressure as if someone is sitting on your chest but don't worry it is perfectly normal yet uncomfortable!. You'll do fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
