Answers:
Just use standard infection control precuations and that should be enough - wash your hands, avoid direct contact with bodily fluids etc!.!.
All the things that you would do on a normal day to day basis anyway!.

My son was diagnosed with this condition when he was about ten years old, it was originally a suspected appedicitis so he was in hospital but no additional precautions were taken in respect to infection control!. No one else in the family caught anything either!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Mesenteric adenitis can occur in adults, but it is most common in children and adolescents younger than 15 years!. Associated enteric disease most often occurs in those younger than 5 years
It is a self-limited condition characterized by fever, abdominal pain, nausea, and, occasionally, diarrhea!. Pain and tenderness are often centered in the right lower quadrant, but they may be more diffuse than in appendicitis!. The site of tenderness may shift when the patient's position changes, whereas the location of the tenderness tends to be fixed with appendicitis!. Leukocytosis is common!.
Mesenteric adenitis is most frequently caused by viral pathogens, but other infectious agents have been implicated, including Yersinia enterocolitica, Helicobacter jejuni, Campylobacter jejuni, and Salmonella or Shigella species!.An association with streptococcal infections of the upper respiratory tract, particularly the pharynx, has been reported!. Mesenteric Adenitis is a harmless condition linked to viral infections, causing swollen abdominal lymph nodes!.!.!.etc!.!.
It can be mistaken for acute appendicitis, they did do an ultrasound right!?
Depending on what the underlying cause, sometimes it's associated with Mono, Cat Scratch Disease, Staph infection!. You would probably need to ask the doctor how it seems to have been contracted in order to give you a better idea if there is a contagious problem there!. From reading another parents similar question about this disease, two of his children had it, and the doctor told him it was not contagious!. I think it's more of the bodies response to the virus!.!.!.i!.e!. causing swollen lymph nodes, abdominal pain etc!.
