The burning, tingling feelings you get in your hands and feet are a start!. Numbness in the fingers or toes is a definite sign!. Some diabetics have nerve damage bad enough that they can't feel it when they walk, which necessitates the need for a walker!. Erectile dysfunction is another sign!. In women, the inability to have orgasm is sort of the same as erectile dysfunction in men!. Carpel tunnel syndrome is also very common in diabetics!. Many diabetics get spots on their bodies that are numb, have no feeling in them!. These spots can be anywhere, legs, arms, even the trunk of the body!. Diabetic neuropathy is nerve damage and cannot be reversed!. In the hands and feet, it can be very painful!. Some of the medications like Cymbalta, or Lyrica can help some, but most medications don't help all that much, and have lots of side effects!. Sometimes signs of diabetic neuropathy can show up very early in the disease, and sometimes actually be a symptom of diabetes!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

By definition neuropathy is that tingly, pricky feeling like when your legs fall asleep!. But, men can have problems getting erections when nerves down there are damaged!. You can also have eyesight problems due to nerve damage!. If you are diabetic and your HgbA1C is greater than 6, you need to see a registered dietitian and get your blood sugars under control!. The bad thing about damage done to the body by high blood sugars is it is hard to undo!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Some additional signs of nerve damage that I have from diabetes besides what is already listed!.
1!. I digest food more slowly!. So I need to match my diet more carefully so the food is not late in raising my blood sugar!.
2!. Peripheral neuropathy in my arms make it hard to hold some things like a cup of coffee without spilling!. I shake too much!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
