It doesn't hurt because you are asleep!. Since you are 13, you will recover quickly if you stay hydrated!. There is alot of pain afterwards but there are pain medications for it!. I sucked it up and withstood the pain for the 2 weeks after (the older you are the longer it takes to heal-I'm older) without the pain medication because I didn't like that it made my breathing shallow!. Once it's all over, swallowing is easier and I don't get strep throat or ear infections as often as I used to!. Good luck! Www@Answer-Health@Com
I had my tonsils out last year at the age of 14!. It really hurts and they make you eat toast before you can leave the hospital but the painkillers do help!. I ate and drank as soon as i came round!.
I had a problem with my tonsils and they bleed three days after they came out!. I went back into a different hospital and stayed the night!. When they tell you to not do much after having them out, really dont do anything!.!. thats why my throat bled!. But GOOD LUCK :)

Well first of all, what they do is they inject you with Anesthetic!. Then you undergo the surgery for tonsil removal!. Afterwards, when you wake up, this is the worse part, you start to vomit all the time, and you feel very ill, and your throat is really, really sore!. But this is all natural!. Honest!. It was horrible for me because I was absolutely terrified of hospitals!. But it was nothing, after a day, they let me home, to rest, and gave me some medicine to soothe my throat!. I had them out when I was about 10! you will be put to sleep so you wont feel a thing until the morning after!. you will have a bad sore throat, but its not really bad, be brave! you will be alright!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
