Rabies treatment necessary... dog bite?!

Question: Rabies treatment necessary!.!.!. dog bite!?
Someone left a couple of obviously unwanted dogs at our work on the enclosed porch area!. Being good Samaritans, we decided to help them out and find them a home!. We took them to the vet to get tick dipped, because they looked like they had been neglected in a back yard for a while, fairly emaciated, and filthy!.

The vet required they get their booster and rabies shots since we had no history on them, which they received!.

I took them home while trying to find them a permanent home!.!.!. they are both 1 year old nonfixed males, and get along fine together until I go out and play with them, then they start fighting )growling matched sometimes escalating to fights) for dominance over which is more deserving to get the most attention!.

Well, I tried to give them a little training, but keeping them on each side of me and petting them both, which worked fine for a while!. On another episode I was playing with one and the other came over and instigated another alpha male play, so I held them each back by their collars, they started snapping and one of them got ahold of the underside of my forearm with a quick snap!.

For the first minute or it was just a solid purple indention and I ran inside and pored 91% ISO alcohol on it before blood started to draw, but obviously there were likely micro areas in the skin that were perforated to a degree!.

It ended up bleeding fairly well after it was drenched in the ISO!.!.!.

The dogs have no apparent signs of aggression, except towards each other when they vie for my attention!.

So questions!.!.!.

Given the following facts, does rabies treatment sound highly advisable:
Unknown vaccination history, but was vaccinated at the vet several days ago (does this have any bearing if the dog had rabies!?)!.

Wound was not a puncture, more just tissue trauma, before I washed it in ISO (followed by iodine)!.!.!. was disinfected within 30 seconds of the bite!. A couple minutes after it opened up in spots and started to draw blood!.

Neither has any signs of aggression or odd behavior except for the alpha male type standoffs with each other when I am playing with them, which I have seen before when you have two juvenile unfixed males together!.

Please, if you have no medical, veterinary or direct experience with similar situations, do answer!. Your answer will be of little practical use!.

Thanks!

Answers:
I think the chances of Rabies are pretty low!.
I would however, ask your doctor to give you a Tetanus Injection if you haven't had one over the past ten years!.
Im sure if it was a reputable vet you took the dogs to he would have picked up on any signs of either dogs carrying rabies, so try not to worry!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Rabies treatment is not necessary!. If either dog had any signs of rabies the vet would have seen it!. And probably would have kept such an animal for observation!. Call the vet tomorrow to be sure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm thinking you should be pretty safe from rabies, however, you should still get it checked out!. My brother got bit by a dog, and had to have antibiotics for it!. Chances are the dog bite will get infected anyway!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
