What are the disadvantages if my tonsils are removed?

I am 23 and had my tonsils out seven months ago.
Disadvantages: as an adult, it takes longer to heal and you will require a longer recovery time. It took me a good three weeks to be back to "normal."
Advantages: no more tonsillitis! My general quality of life has improved because I am not suffering from severe tonsillitis every 2-3 weeks. I would basically live in fear of waking up with swollen glands and tonsils and it was extremely disruptive to my life. I missed a lot of school and work. Also, I was taking very powerful anti-biotics that caused havoc on the rest of my body.
Overall, the good outweighs the bad. It is a personal choice that you and your ENT will have to make. Good luck!
