How to calm down your heart?!

Question: How to calm down your heart!?
This is a little hard for me to explain, but lately over the past few months my heart has been beating faster at random times!.

And occassionally it feels like it skips a beat and I can't take a breath in at that time!.

I worry a lot about my health (over little things) and have been a big girl all my life!.

Such as just 15 minutes ago, I was laying down and watching a movie and could feel my heart beating really fast!. I wasn't even worried about anything!.

I guess my question is:

How can I lower my heartrate!? I don't like the feeling of it beating fast at all!.

I'm waiting for the "Go to your GP! Lose WEIGHT!" answers but that;s not what I'm asking!.

I'm 18 if that helps and 5'11!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Being a tad taller and older than yourself; I am almost 6' tall and 60 years your senior and had a quadruple cardiac bypass 1990!. Today, I am in excellent health but in spite of the bypass and not because of it!. I am not on medication!.

Your problem may well be due to your apparent sentivity to your health but it could be due to your diet!. Try to keep out of your diet all polyunsaturated fats as those are potent immune suppressors (not many know this) and return to the traditional saturated fats, which, on their own are benign and the body's natural food for energy!. Only in the presence of carbohydrates with fat do arteries become furred!.

Ramp down on carbohydrates (including any soft or fruit drinks) in your diet and treat them like luxuries only, but do not stop taking them as a little seems to help!. Your meals should consist mainly of protein and fat!.

Finally, avoid snacking between meals and try to increase the intervals to around 5 or 6 hours rather than the traditional 4 hourly meals!. Dinner should be at least 3 hours prior to retiring with nothing to eat until breakfast (or lunch, if this is preferred)!.

Obviously this involves discipline but by the end of the first week you should notice the difference!.

Learn the techniques of relaxation and finally, good luck!!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am 20 years old and I have been battling SVT my whole life!. It sounds to me like you're having tachycardia episodes alone with premature ventricle contractions!. In lame mans terms you're heart is beating too fast due to improper electrical impulses and you're ventricles are contracting before they are supposed to!. This can be serious, but i assure you that most of the time it is not!. I would suggest going to your doctor who will probably give you a halter monitor for 24-72 hours!. This will be a constant monitor of your heart rate and will allow the doctor to accurately gauge the severity of the problem!. But first RELAX!!!! I have had it 20 years and have to beautiful babies!. I also assure you that your weight probably doesn't have much to do with it if it is SVT!. However, avoid caffeine and it should relax a little Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've just been diagnosed with a Pulmonary Embolism (blood clot in the lower branch of my Rt!. lung and it's very dangerous and inoperable) as of 9/10/08 as an ER admission for chest pains, profuse sweating, two sharp pains at the back of my neck up to my brain, severe nausea, (I never get nauseous-even when I was pregnant twice with my 2 children) and severe tightness squeezing of my chest and heart palpitations!. I'm trained in CPR/AED & First Aid and knew something was wrong but what I'm going to tell you, I don't want to scare you, just know this is an option for you!.
If I were you, I would look in the phone book under Physicians and immediately set an appt!. for a visit to a Cardiologist!. They can pinpoint with a number of specialty tests exactly what is causing your problems and if its blood vessel related like mine is!. I do the same thing you're doing!. Lying down, your heart can tend to 'skip' a little and usually there is a reason!. I have never been able to jog or run without collapsing, I'm now 53 1/2 and they are going to run a Nuclear stress chemical test (which takes 2 hrs!. on two different days) this coming Monday and Wednesday!.

They knew what was happening immediately when I checked into the ER but couldn't confirm until all the test results came in and they found it on a CT Scan with Contrast and started me immed!. on Lovenox shots to the belly and Coumadin!. I have a huge history of Angina on my dad's side and clots AND a huge history of blood clots on my mother's side and her mother had to have the "Roto Rooter" Slang term for Arterialsclerotomy Carotid arteries in the neck cleaned out when she was 68 ish!. She kept passing out on us and we just thought it was because she was II Diabetic!.

Please, if this keeps up and you are feeling anxious or extremely nervous which are two more symptoms of a clot in the lung, go to the ER immediately!. Remember, a false alarm in the ER can mean the difference between Life and Death!. I know!. Don't play around with this!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
