Is leftover Amoxicillin safe to use?!

Question: Is leftover Amoxicillin safe to use!?
I have some leftover Apo-Amoxi!. It doesn't have an expiry date, but I think the date given (prescribed) was December 12th, 2006!.

I have a throat infection, I know this because my throat hurts when I swallow and whatnot!.

I only have this syptom, so I'm very sure its a throat infection!.
It may be strep throat, IDK!.

But I remember having strep throat, and I think I took this medication!.

I won't be able to get to a doctor until probably Monday!.
So I want to get well SOON!.

Is it safe to take leftover antibiotics after 2 years!?
Will it kill me!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
It won't kill you, but it's not a good idea, and here's why:

"It is important to complete the course of treatment given to you by your doctor and not to save any antibiotics in case you get ill again!. There are many different types of antibiotics and taking the wrong one or taking one when you do not need it (e!.g!. when you have a viral infection) will not help you to get better and may increase the development of antibiotic resistance!."

I'll list the site I found that at below!. I find that to be very true, and it was stated quite often in nursing school to me! There are surely lots of other places that will say similar things, but I think that paragraph sums it up the best!

I hope you feel better soon! Get lots of rest and drink lots of water!Www@Answer-Health@Com

all medications lose their effect after 1 year so, yours are no good now!. Call a pharmacist, they'll tell you too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
