Question: Can a fourteen year old get breast cancer!?
I'm only 14 but i've found a really hard lump just beneath my nipple which hurts if i feel it too much!. my mother passed away several years ago and i don't have anyone i feel i can talk to about this!.

The chances of a 14 year old having breast cancer are very close to zero; it's mainly a disease of ageing - 80% of those diagnosed are over 50, it's rare in women under 40 and it's almost unheard of in under 25s!.
The American Cancer Society recommends that women begin breast self-examination at the age of 20
Most breast lumps, even in women over 50, aren't cancerous, and most cancerous breast lumps don't hurt!. Most people diagnosed with breast cancer have felt no pain!.
Your breasts are still growing and developing and this is almost certainly hormonal!.
I suggest you talk to your school nurse about this - don't be embarrassed, she will be used to girls having such concerns and will take you seriously!. She should be able to put your mind at rest!.

Yeah unfortunately 14 year olds have been known to contract breast cancer!.!.!.
I am sorry to hear that about your mother!.!.!.did she have cancer!?
If she did, that would be a strong family history of the disease and you should already be getting checked out regularly
But go see your Doctor about it just to set your mind at ease

Try not to be scared, I appreciate how worried you must be right now, and to be honest the thought of going to the doctor is probably worrying you alot too!. But although it is high unlikely that this is cancer, it is always good to get things checked out, so that your mind is put at rest!.

This is most likely PERFECTLY NORMAL!!!!!! But!.!.!.!.for any woman!.!.!.!.reguardless of her age!.!.!.!.!.!.any change in breast tissue should be evaluated by a physician!.
Go see your family doctor this week!.!.!.!.!.so that he can evaluate you!.!.!.!.and hopefully re-assure you that what you have is normal breast tissue!!!!!
