Keloid scars???!

Question:

Keloid scars???

I am 31 and have had a few large bumps since I was about 16. They are only on my upper chest and on the back of my shoulders.( A few strays here & there on my back) My family Dr. called them "keloid " scars or something like that. I have been told that my skin type is very susceptible to this, and that it is hereditary. My biological father had them too, I am told. Any advice on removing/fading them? How about making sure my daughters don't suffer the same thing?

Answers:

You can go to a doctor, or dermatologist, and get cortisone injection (into the scar), and it will help reduce the swelling or puffyness and it also helps to tone down the pigmentation. I don't think you can make them completely disappear, but they certainly won't be as noticable after the shot.

As far as passing it on to your daughter, I dunno, my son does have it, but my daughter doesn't! It goes to show us that we can't control nature. lol!
