Best before date expired on Ventolin puffer, what effects will this have on it&#!
Question: Best before date expired on Ventolin puffer, what effects will this have on it's effectiveness!?
All my puffers are out of date, and have been for a while!.!.!. Usually one or two years past there date as i cant be bothered getting new ones as i don't like to think of myself as an asthmatic anymore!.!.!. What effects and importance does the used by date have with the treatment!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

For almost all drugs, the expiration date means nothing!. Even the loss in potency is unnoticeable!. The US military did research into expiration of drugs it had stockpiled, and found after 15 years almost all were still perfectly fine!.
There are however some few drugs that do break down in a way that could be harmful!. Or in a way that could make it just not work anymore!.
I could not find whether Ventolin is on that list or not, it was obviously one that was not tested!. But the odds are in your favor!. In short, the expiration date on most drugs is a marketing thing so they can turn over and sell more product!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

For some meds after the date they start to loose effectiveness, the chemical compounds have gone past their half-life!.
In others, they get more effective, and could put you in danger of having on overdose!. This is caused when a time-release agent breaks down before the active medication does!.
If you need to use these, talk to a pharmasist about that particular medication!. But most will say to throw it away, it is too dangerous!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
