Thyroid question?

My uncle is suffering from thyroid but his docror says he's made good progress. Today my uncle says he's hungry all the time and has eaten 6 dishes of rice. I'm wondering weather it because of the pills he's taking or because of his thyroid. His doctor has told him he should continue to take his pills but my uncle has checked with another doctor and she said he should stop to take pills, have you ever had such a problem? What should he do?

i just increased my levels of thyroid medicine and one of the side effects is an increase in appetite! i wanted to eat everything. eventually your body gets used to the medicine and the appetite gets back to normal.if the doctor keeps increasing the meds he may have this happen again until his body gets use to it. is your uncle seeing an endocrinologist? therse doctors are specialists in dealing with thyroid diseases. make sure the dr is testing the TSH levels consistantly to make sure the thyroid levels do not get too low.also check mayo clinic website for info on thyroid disease. i found it to be helpful .good luck!
