I quit drinking wine 3 days ago and am exhausted and can't do Su Doku?! Serious question!?

I'm not a hardcore drinker but I am accustomed to having almost a bottle of red wine an evening, which is too much so I decided to go on the wagon. I am drinking lots of water and detox tea with lemon and cayenne and eating alkalizing food like asparagus. Does anyone know why I am sleeping so much (8 hours at night and I just took a 3 hour nap) and why I can't do 'fiendish' level Su Doku anymore? That one symptom may see odd but I normally do those relatively easily and just 3 days ago (the day after I stopped drinking), I found I could not complete one and had to go down to the 'difficult' level ones for any success. Am I releasing stored toxins that are making me lethargic and stupid?

Answers:

You're experiencing withdrawal symptoms. A whole bottle of wine every evening is a lot of alcohol, even though it may not seem like a lot to you. It's definitely enough to cause withdrawal if you suddenly stop drinking. Because you weren't quite at the "hard drinking" stage, your withdrawal symptoms are not nearly as severe as those of someone who, say, drinks three or four bottles of alcohol a day. But it's possible to become addicted to alcohol even if you stop with a bottle a day. I'm not sure how long withdrawal lasts, but the fatigue and brain fog you're experiencing will eventually pass. In the mean time, it sounds like you're doing what you need to do to help your body cleanse itself. Kudos to you for realizing that you needed to quit, and I wish you great success!
