Question: Whooping cough!!?!.!.or something else!?
Yeap, well I'm 16 years old!.!. and have a cough that seems to be getting worse and worse

About a week 1/2 ago I came down with what i thought was a cold (and still might be) with all the usual symptoms!.!.!. well my cold/flu symptoms are gone but this damn cough will not go away!.!.it actually seems to be getting worse!.

I'm not having any of the "severe coughing fits" but like I said, it's steadily getting worse ( I did have one bad one that really started to take a beating on my ribs)!.!.!. anyways, my question is being that I'm 16, could the vaccine have worn off by now, and should I get a booster or something!? also, any other info on what you think it might be!? (probably still a cold!.!.but)

Oh, and cough suppressants aren't working at all!.!.!. nothing is Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's probably just a cold but you really would have to go to the doctor to find out and yes, I have heard of the vaccination wearing off!.

I myself had whooping cough when I was your age!. I was having these spells of where I coughed so bad that I would loose my breath and finally, I would vomit!. So when this happened I was taken to the doctor and he diagnosed me with whooping cough!.

What you really need to do right away is to drink a lot more liquids so the mucus can be coughed out!. At the least, you have bronchitis which causes a lot of coughing and also lasts a long time!.

The reason you should go to the doctor is because whooping cough can be helped by Erythromycin (an antibiotic)!. This antibiotic works very well on whooping cough!.

If this is whooping cough, then you will never need a booster again!.

There is one more thing that it could be and that would be walking pneumonia!. Walking pneumonia is not serious but the coughing lasts a long time!.

If you get a fever with your coughing, it might mean you have the bad kind of pneumonia (bacterial)!. That would mean you will have to take some antibiotics!.

If nothing is working for your cough and you just can't sleep at night, then take a dose of benadryl at night only!.
Do not take it during the day because you need to cough the mucus out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most cough suppressants don't work!.

Because your cough is worsening and persisting, I would see your doctor!. It could be a couple of things causing it to continue!.

In the meantime, rest well and eat well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well go to the doctor and see what he/or she thinks !.Www@Answer-Health@Com
