Question:

When I stand up, I'm dizzy/off balance for a moment. Is this blood pressure thing? I'm 72 years old?

Answers:

You might want to get checked by your doctor anyway, but also look up this one on the Mayo Clinic website or MedFacts website...or even Google this term: benign positional vertigo. It's sometimes listed as BPV. Most medical websites also include how this is diagnosed [even shows diagrams of what a doctor has you do to make sure this is what it is]. 'Positional' is the clue...when you go from standing up to sitting down, or vice-versa, or possibly bending over [shoelaces, etc.] you'll get a little 'stagger' feeling. Also, when you lie down - the bed feels like you're being tilted or whirled. Get the blood-pressure looked at anyway, but check out BPV! p.s., 'Benign' is the other clue.. not serious, just unsettling!
