Question: I've been taking Penicillin for a week and I caught a cold!?

I had a root canal last week and he put me on 2000mg of Penicillin a day, for the last week!. On Wednesday it will have been 7 days since I started it!. My 18 month old daughter caught a cold and has passed it to me!. She seems to be getting over it quickly but I'm surprised having been taking an antiobiotic for the last week I caught the cold!.
